Lark Traditional Arts Presents

The Jughandle Campout

Lark Traditional Arts is pleased to announce Jughandle Campout, October 11-14, 2024 at the Jug Handle Creek Farm and Nature Center in Caspar, CA on the Mendocino Coast. The campout will be “an informal gathering of Lark-minded individuals”, intended to supplement our regular camp with a smaller event that is more financially and physically accessible. It will be a mostly acoustic, world folk music campout that will include some volunteer workshops, lots of jam sessions, optional hikes to the nearby beach, and one or two organized dances.

Space is limited, and will be assigned on a first-come/first-served basis. There are 10 private rooms and 5 shared rooms in the Farmhouse and cabins, with a few ADA accessible options in the Bunkhouse. There are a few RV spaces (no hookups), and 10 tent spaces with access to water and porta-potties. There will be a limited number of day-use passes available for Mendocino Coast locals, or those who would like to find lodging elsewhere in the area.

Pricing (entire weekend)

Meals

Meals will not be provided. Campers will need to bring their own food and cook for themselves using a camp stove or one of the shared kitchen spaces. Caspar is close to both Fort Bragg and Mendocino, so eating out will also be an option.

Chores

We will not have an official crew as we do at Lark Camp, so we need all campers to pitch in. We ask that campers sign up for one chore shift during the weekend. Chores will include litter pickup, kitchen and bathroom cleaning, office/greeter hours, and camp setup and teardown. You will be able to sign up for your preferred chore on the registration form.

T-Shirts

Our very own Marina Zekley has designed a T-shirt for the Campout. You can order yours from our Etsy store in the size and color you want! They're available in a classic crew neck and a short sleeve fitted v-neck.

COVID Policy

Because you will be exposed to a large group of people traveling from varied places, a COVID-19 vaccination is strongly recommended for everyone ages 6 months and older, per CDC guidelines. We ask that you take a rapid COVID test on the morning of Friday, October 9, before you travel to camp. If you test positive, text or email Meghan (707-734-3883 or miller@larkcamp.org), to say you are not coming; we will refund your money if you need to cancel for COVID related reasons. Your care helps protect our community, some of whom—though immunized—are elderly and/or immunocompromised.
